How we reached this

Low-erucic-acid rapeseed oil, affirmed GRAS by FDA at 21 CFR 184.1555 — food-grade cultivars are bred down from the erucic acid levels that made industrial rapeseed unsuitable for food. Monounsaturated-dominant, and FDA permits a qualified health claim on its unsaturated fat content. Held mid-scale rather than high because the commodity supply is overwhelmingly conventional GMO crop, and refining is typically hexane solvent extraction followed by bleaching and deodorising — the processing chain, not the fatty-acid profile, is what separates it from cold-pressed oils.
